Dominic BuxtonOur country did it again. We turned out at 8pm on Thursday, 2nd April, to clap, cheer and make lots of noise for our wonderful NHS and front-line staff. The sounds of clapping, cheering, banging pots and pans, sirens and horns echoed throughout London and the rest of the country. Again, the same as last week, it reduced me to tears. It was heartwarming seeing people come out and support those who go above and beyond to save lives every day.

However, the message here is serious. Constantly we hear from NHS staff that, contrary to Government announcements, they still do not have the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to make their job safe. The Government have also made promises to significantly ramp up testing - from 10,000 tests per day to 100,000 tests per day by the end of April. There is doubt as to whether this is possible, given that the target of 10,000 tests per day is not being hit.
We need to call on the Government to prioritise NHS staff safety and testing and hold them to account in a constructive way.
